Road markings with excellent grip
Waterborne road marking paint is one good alternative to thermoplastic. It is both functional and environmentally friendly. So, what do we choose? The Highways Agency in Sweden knows the answer.

- When it comes to maintenance of motorways, functionality, safety and finance must go hand in hand. Waterborne road marking paint from Cleanosol gives us both the lowest annual costs and functional lines on top of the old thermoplastic markings, says the Highways Agency.

Over two years the Highways Agency applied a total of 920 km of road markings on the E4, E6 and E22 (Swedish motorways) using waterborne paint, known as Mercalin 6010, from Cleanosol. The waterborne road marking paint was applied in a wet film thickness of 0.6 to 0.7 mm with 0.6 kg of drop-on glass beads per square metre. The size of the drop-on glass beads (0.2-1.4 mm) made it possible to achieve a road marking with good wet night visibility.

The drivers thus got a new, functional road marking. And during the application a huge paint truck with a carrying capacity of 10,000 litres of paint and 10 tons of glass beads was used.
